How to connect Aegis
Aegis runs locally from a Node.js package published to the npm registry: @getaegis/cli version 1.0.5. It speaks MCP over stdio, so the client starts it as a program and talks to it through standard input and output. It needs Node.js; clients usually start it with npx — the usual command is npx -y @getaegis/cli@1.0.5. It reads these environment variables: AEGIS_MASTER_KEY (required, secret), AEGIS_SALT (required, secret), AEGIS_DATA_DIR, AEGIS_PORT, AEGIS_LOG_LEVEL, AEGIS_LOG_FORMAT, AEGIS_VAULT, AEGIS_REQUIRE_AGENT_AUTH, AEGIS_POLICY_MODE, AEGIS_POLICIES_DIR and AEGIS_METRICS; set them in the client's configuration for this server.
