How AI assistants find and book travel

An assistant answering a travel question has three ways to get facts: from what it learned in training (often out of date), from searching the web (pages written for people), or from calling a service directly (live, structured, exact).

Only the third gives a real price for real dates. Services that offer an MCP server, an app inside an assistant, or a documented API let the assistant ask them directly.

Most bookings still complete on the travel company's own site; the assistant finds and compares, and hands over the link.
